What goes into your shortlist, how paid listings affect placement, and what to verify before choosing a community.
The short answer
Carevoro compares your answers with communities in its directory. Matching and the standard AI Care Report are free for families. A Match Score describes how well a listing aligns with your search; it is not a medical recommendation, an inspection grade or a guarantee that a room is available.
What goes into a Match Score
The matching calculation considers requested care types, your location, your budget and the community's listed starting price. Listing ratings can affect the score, and notes can match listed amenities. Each result includes a short explanation of the factors that contributed to the match.
Location matching compares place names and ZIP text with the listing's city, state and metro. It does not calculate mileage or driving time. Your timing answer helps describe your situation in the report; the score does not check live vacancies, staffing records or inspection results.
The shortlist and the AI report are different
The matching calculation ranks directory communities first. The AI then uses the submitted answers and top matches to write a plain-language standard Care Report. If that service is unavailable, a shorter summary can be returned. Treat either version as a starting point for research, not a substitute for a clinician's assessment or a community's admissions assessment.
How providers pay and what verification means
Providers can pay for a Standard Listing, Featured Placement or individual referral leads. Featured communities receive priority in the directory's recommended ordering, and the matching calculation can give featured listings a small score boost. Paid placement is not evidence of better clinical care.
A provider must have its community claim approved before paid verification and featured benefits apply. A verified badge indicates an approved provider claim with a qualifying paid plan; it is not independent accreditation, a state inspection result or a guarantee of safety.
What listing information can and cannot tell you
The directory contains researched community information, including locations, care types, amenities and estimated monthly prices. Coverage is limited to the communities listed; Carevoro does not list every licensed provider in the United States. Information can change, and some listing images are illustrative rather than photographs of the property.
Ask the community to confirm the current room, services, all-in monthly price, care fees and availability. Confirm licensing and inspection information with the relevant state agency. For skilled nursing facilities, Medicare's Care Compare provides a separate official research resource.
Your next step
Compare a few communities using the same care needs and budget, then request tours. Bring written questions about overnight coverage, medication support, care assessments and contract terms. Involve your parent and their healthcare team when deciding which level of care is appropriate.
Common questions
- Is a Match Score the same as a community rating?
- No. A Match Score reflects alignment with your search inputs. Listing ratings are a separate input and are not an inspection or clinical assessment.
- Do paid listings influence the results?
- Yes. Featured listings receive priority in recommended directory ordering and can receive a small boost in the matching calculation. Compare care suitability and confirm details directly regardless of placement.
- Does Carevoro confirm current availability?
- No. Ask the community to confirm available rooms, admissions requirements and timing before making plans or paying a deposit.
